  PROPERTY IN MYRTOS, CRETE

This delightful small holiday town Myrtos (or Mirtos) on the sunny south coast of Crete has one of the mildest climates in all of Europe, being close to the continents most southerly town of Ierapetra.

Mirtos whilst being quiet and relaxed is surprisingly not too remote from the rest of the world, there are a wide range of services close by in Ierapetra, which has good shopping, and business environment, with modern banks and insurance offices offering everything for successful investment in the area, there is also a local hospital and some private health clinics which can meet the needs of visitors or permanent residents alike.

The area is approximately 2hrs from the main airport at Heraklion, and in future will be about 1hr from the new airport at Sitia. There are currently a range of road improvements being undertaken in the east of Crete.

Mirtos is the ideal sun, sea, and sand destination, with a delightful beachside resort developed in a low key atmosphere which would offer good opportunities to any developer who wanted to create the ultimate in a relaxing environment, suitable for all the family. There is already a selection of bars, cafes, tavernas , and restaurants in the resort which cater to most needs, with a few tourist shops and supermarkets.

There are still development opportunities around either for multiple development or for one/off houses or villas etc, and local and national government are still development friendly.

There are ample real estate opportunities in the area with property professionals based in Ierapetra, and with the world’s largest estate agent RE/AL in Makrygialos just along the coast at RE/AL Professionals. Currently developments are taking place, with some interest in Fractional Ownership being pursued.

The area around has a host of small villages from coastal villages of Gra Ligia, Stomio, Ammoudares, and Neo Mirtos, to the older hill villages of Males,Hristos Mithi, Mournies, and Anatoli, which can provide opportunities to acquire older properties for renovation or redevelopment. Views from some of the hill villages are absolutely stunning.
